Loria Parker
Loria Parker, ne' Catherine Jacoby, is a native New Yorker, born of a show business family. She’s a graduate of New York’s High School of Performing Arts and was an Acting major at Carnegie Mellon University. Loria performed her first leading role as Julie Jordan in “Carousel” with her junior high school theater workshop, at the age of 13, following as “Anna” in “The King and I” in three separate productions in high school, and later at Fordham Plaza outdoor theatre at Lincoln Center. Following four years as principal singer in “Hallelujah Hollywood” at the MGM in Las Vegas, she won the role of Fanny Brice in the TV movie, “Ziegfeld, the Man and His Women”. Upon her return to New York, Loria pursued her career in theater and as an acclaimed performer in cabaret, winning a Backstage Bistro Award and M.A.C. nomination. Regionally, she’s played the role of Reno Sweeney in “Anything Goes”, Fanny in “Funny Girl”, Dolly Levi in “Hello Dolly” and created the role of Zia in the world premiere of “Angelina”, by Barry Kleinbort. Her last role was as Iris, in “That Ilk” by Nancy Dean, at the Hudson Guild Theatre in New York City.

By a wonderful quirk of fate, Loria met Jack Quinn, Theaterscene.net’s publisher, who encouraged her to consider writing theatre reviews. And the rest, as they say, is history.
Loria feels privileged to cover Off and Off-Off Broadway plays in New York City for Theaterscene.net, and continues to be impressed with the passion and level of artistry of the productions she’s been fortunate enough to review, and is grateful for Jeannie Lieberman’s continued support and encouragement.
Loria shares her life with her husband, voice teacher Gerry Janssen, and 11 cats, all rescues, and has recently started a professional writing consultancy business, “Your Silent Partner”, specializing in bios, website content, marketing material, and business writing. She can be reached at loria@yoursilentpartner.biz .
