For the last 72 consecutive weeks Penny's Open Mic has given a space for any artist/performer to share their work on stage with the environment of support and openness to experimentation, pushing boundaries and delving deeper. With the help from the many talented artists who grace the stage and for the better part, respectfully listen, this mic has become an inspiring atmosphere where people feel free and safe to grow as artists and as people.

We would greatly appreciate any and all features, listings and blogs to help spread the word.

Penny's Open Mic is a weekly event of unabashed art. Being a truly open (open to anything and everything) open mike and within a theater atmosphere, the night turns towards performance art of an extremely experimental nature. You could see poetry, a monologue, music, a true story, a film, an interpretive dance, the most amazing creative and intense performance you can ever imagine and the worst act you'll probably ever see in your life all within the space of an hour! Really it's a night that cannot be explained because every night is different and anything can and will happen.

I would like to personally invite you to come and experience for yourselves the raw beauty that is Penny's Open Mic. I can't always promise greatness but I can promise a safe atmosphere to experiment and dig deeper in art and within yourself. Let me know what night you would like to come and I would love to treat you to a night of beautiful insanity.

You'll be surprised by the possibilities of a black box.

UNDER St. Marks Theater is a beautiful black box theater with a brand new sound system, a large stage for dancers, a screen for film-makers, managers dedicated to art over profit and so much more!

Right in the heart of the east village's last stand. Horsetrade theater co has gained the hearts and attention from a new generation of artists/performers by rewarding risk-taking and experimentation. The under St. marks scene inspires innovation while remaining abashed in the true east village spirit.
